Recently, I gave an 'Introduction to Music Theory' talk, on behalf of one of my choirs.
I've tried to take a physics-up approach -- without getting too maths-heavy.
On this page are links to several things: a PDF of slides, three PDFs of sine waves in various configurations, and a collection of various small MuseScore files used to demonstrate examples.
- The slideshow
- The first 10 harmonics, plotted
- Summing harmonics to create a square wave
- Summing odd harmonics to create a saw wave
- ZIP of several MuseScore files that serve as examples
